FN-Fal / L1A1 Stock wrench
This tool is the standard gun repair tool for removing and replacing the recoil springs on the 7.62mm FAL and L1 series SLR fixed stock rifles. This tool is also needed to remove the stock (both wooden and plastic) from the rifle.
Usage:
The tool consists of a steel body with a screwdriver tip that engages the return spring tube nut to loosen or tighten it. The body of the tool also includes a long steel rod that passes through the hole at the back of the nut and acts as a guide rod for the springs when removed or replaced in the spring tube. Turning of the wrench is accomplished by the 'T' handle secured through the body of the tool.
Pay attention!
It is possible to remove the return spring nut with a large flat head screwdriver, but once the last thread is loosened, controlling the return spring is nearly impossible, and downright dangerous! Also trying to control the recoil spring when putting it back in while aligning the nut (which has a very fine thread) is impossible without this tool and even very dangerous, if the spring and nut come loose there is a high chance for damage and injuries.
It is therefore very important to only use this special tool when replacing the return spring and removing the stock.
