The receiver lockup is achieved through a new hidden spring mechanism that utilizes the charging handle insertion slot in the upper receiver. This channel features a natural radius that will wear less rapidly than the sharp edge of a standard charging handle latch. The flat spring bearing surface is much larger than a steel ball bearing, spreading force and wear out over a larger area.
